Introduction

RAM Construction was appointed to undertake essential external remedial works at Ridgeland House in Brighton & Hove, East Sussex.

The project focuses on improving the condition and long-term protection of the building's west elevation, positioned directly above the car park entrance, through a programme of specialist brickwork and weatherproofing repairs.

This is a great example of the planned building maintenance we undertake for block managers, managing agents and commercial property owners across Sussex.

Project Scope

The works involve repairing and strengthening key elements of the building's external structure, helping to address deterioration and improve its resistance to the elements.

‍

The project's key deliverables included
  • Comprehensive repointing of existing brickwork.
  • Upgrading cavity wall ties to improve structural stability.
  • Application of a durable waterproof coating to ridge-level leadwork.
Challenges

Working on a multi-storey building requires careful planning, particularly when carrying out repairs at height across a large external elevation.

With the west elevation positioned directly above the property's car park entrance, safe access and careful coordination of the works are important considerations throughout the project.

The remedial works are designed to address existing defects, help prevent further deterioration and protect the building over the longer term.

Outcome

Once completed, the works will help improve the structural integrity and weather resistance of Ridgeland House, supporting the property's ongoing maintenance and long-term value.

For RAM Construction, this project demonstrates the importance of proactive building maintenance and our ability to undertake specialist external repairs on larger managed properties.

Based in East Sussex, we work with block managers, managing agents and commercial property owners throughout Brighton & Hove, East Sussex, West Sussex, Kent and the wider South East.
