Introduction

We Are RAM Construction takes pride in presenting this case study showcasing our successful completion of a transformative extension project in Eastbourne. The project was aimed to enhance the living experience for our client through the installation of key features, including a new Howdens kitchen with an island, a lounge seating area, large bi-folding doors, four skylights, a wood-burning stove, and a utility room.

Project Scope

The primary objective of this project was to seamlessly blend modern functionality with the existing charm of a bungalow in Eastbourne. Our scope included the design and construction of an extension that would not only add square footage but also elevate the overall aesthetic and liveability of the home.

The project's key deliverables included

1. Howdens Kitchen:

Collaborating closely with the homeowners, we installed a state-of-the-art Howdens kitchen with a central island. This design not only optimise's workspace but also serve's as a social hub for family gatherings and culinary activities.

2. Lounge Seating Area:

A new lounge seating area was incorporated to provide a cozy and comfortable space for relaxation and entertainment. Thoughtful placement of furniture and accessories ensured a seamless transition from the existing living space to the new extension.

3. Large Bi-Folding Doors and Glazed Gable:

The installation of large bi-folding doors with the glazed gable above was a key feature, aimed at connecting the interior and exterior spaces. This not only brings in an abundance of natural light but also provides unobstructed views of the beautiful landscaped garden.

4. Skylights:

Four strategically placed skylights were integrated into the extension's roof, flooding the interior with sunlight. This design choice not only enhances the overall brightness but also contributes to a spacious and airy ambiance.

4. Wood-Burning Stove:

The addition of a wood-burning stove introduced both a functional and aesthetic focal point to the living area. This feature provides warmth, character, and a sense of homeliness to the space.

5. Utility Room:

Recognising the need for efficient household management, a new utility room was incorporated. This discreet space housed laundry facilities and additional storage, contributing to the overall functionality of the home.

6. Landscaping - New Patio and Raised Sleeper Flower Beds:

The outdoor transformation included the creation of a new patio, seamlessly connecting with the interior living spaces. Raised sleeper flower beds were strategically placed to add greenery and visual interest, enhancing the overall landscaping design.

Challenges

Throughout the project, our team navigated challenges related to ensuring seamless integration of the new features with the existing structure. Coordinating the installation of multiple elements, such as the kitchen island, lounge seating, and utility room, required meticulous planning to avoid disruptions to the homeowners' daily life.

Outcome

This extension project resulted in a stunning transformation of the Eastbourne bungalow. The Howdens kitchen became a focal point for socialising, the lounge seating area offers comfort and style, and the large bi-folding doors and skylights brought in natural light, creating an inviting atmosphere.

The addition of a wood-burning stove and a utility room has added both character and practicality to the home.
